HANNAH TAYLOR

Hannah is a deviser and production manager, studying theatre and linguistics in her BA. Her background includes solo-performance, directing, dramaturgy and comedic improvisation. Hannah’s hobbies include painting, eating and playing Splitgate.

POE TIARE

Poe Tiare is a Cook Islands director and scriptwriter who completed her BA in 2021, double majoring in Theatre and Film. Her performance history includes cultural performances, directing and scriptwriting for theatre and film, and costuming. Poe Tiare enjoys working out, listening to all of Spotify’s Broadway soundtracks and cleaning.

DAISEY VAHEY BOURNE

Daisy is a theatre practitioner who dislikes the spotlight. No wonder she’s a stage manager. Daisy is using the MFA to develop her skill in this role, specifically how someone who is meant to stay hidden, can operate in an immersive show with no backstage to hide in!

LANI SWANN

Lani is a recently Wellington based performer, having moved up from Ōtepoti in February 2023. After completing her BA in Theatre at Otago University, Lani’s professional career kicked off in September 2019 with A Hundred Words for Snow, which garnered her the Emerging Talent award at the Dunedin Theatre Awards.

 

 

SHARON LI

Sharon is from China, Shanghai. Sharon loves children's theatre, especially seeing kids on the stage doing amazing jobs. So, if you love children's theatre too, come check out her upcoming show Monkey.

 

 

MORGAN DELANEY 

Morgan (they/them) is an emerging non-binary artist. They are focusing on directing immersive theatre for their MFA. They form part of the collective CatHouse, working on devising Timelines, an immersive theatre show about time travel and the history of BATS.

KERRYN PALMER

PRODUCER

Kerryn is a Wellington-based freelance director, producer and teacher of drama. She has a PhD in devising theatre for and with young audiences. Since 2015 she has taught regularly in Victoria University’s theatre programme and teaches short courses in devising and directing at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School. Her recent works include Joy, Wonderkind, The Secret Lives of Sixteen Year Old Girls

PAUL TOZER

SENIOR TECHNICAL OFFICER 

Paul is our Senior Technical Officer in the theatre at VUW. Since starting with us in 2017, he has worked across numerous undergraduate student shows providing support and mentorship in design and technical theatre. This will be his fifth MFA season at BATS and he is extremely excited to see what the class of 2023 produce. Prior to working at VUW, Paul worked as the production coordinator at Toi Whakaari as well as freelancing in many different aspects of the theatre industry across Pōneke and Aotearoa. Some would say he’s a theatrical jack-of-all-trades and boy are we lucky to have him!

SAM TIPPET

TECHNICIAN

Sam is our technician, working closely alongside Paul. She has been in this role for four years, starting with us straight out of her MFA. Sam is stoked to be a part of the team supporting 6Degrees again and spending time with the class to help realise their stage dreams into technical realities. Sam’s strengths lie in management and general crew work such as mech roles or lighting installs and operation. Outside of VUW Sam is a sucker for freelance gains and has worked heavily in the theatre and events industries across Pōneke and Aotearoa with companies such as World of WearableArt, NZ Arts Festival, Auckland Arts Festival and occasionally you might see her having a laugh in the roof or backstage at local theatres.

KATIE HILL

PUBLICIST AND ADMINISTRATOR

Katie is a producer, actor, director, and publicist in the Wellington region. Katie graduated with a Master of Arts by thesis in 2020. She specialises in comedy and humour research, with a particular interest in gender and its relationship to comedy. Katie regularly performs in the Wellington comedy scene with her musical comedy duo, Big Estrogen Energy . Katie has been working as the Theatre administrator at Victoria University of Wellington since mid 2021. Her recent works include Princess and The Knight, Horny and Confused 1 & 2, and Quiz of the Millennium.

EZRA SEIULI 

Ezra is of Samoan and Chinese descent, born and raised in Porirua, New Zealand. The middle child of 6 siblings, Ezra strives to flip the script and overcome the middle child-itis as he shares his voice through his work as a, you guessed it, Script Writer!
